Barnett Fine Art is now offering three new works by Louisiana artist Natalie Gaidry. The Chinese School Girl, Abstract Rose, and Open Heart each exemplify Gaidry’s signature blend of vibrancy and intensity while tackling new subject matter. Learn more about these works in this week’s blog.

New Work by Natalie Gaidry at Barnett Fine Art

In her new works the Chinese School Girl, Abstract Rose, and Open Heart, Gaidry utilizes white flake paint to achieve the intensity of color that signifies her work. When flake paint combines with paints that have little body, it creates striations in the colors of the works, adding definition to each brushstroke and creating a visually arresting effect. Unfortunately, due to the fact that flake paint is lead-based, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find and dear in price. Each of these three new works is based loosely on an interpretation of a mathematical shape and, dripping with intense color and elevating a mundane concept, are excellent examples Gaidry’s signature style. However, these new pieces differ from her earlier works offered by Barnett Fine Arts in that they are based on an abstract concept. This diverges from her older pieces which were whimsical takes on everyday objects and places.

Bio

Natalie Gaidry grew up in Houma, Louisiana where she began painting at the age of two. After studying architecture at the University of Oregon, she traveled to Italy in order to further her architectural studies and refine her painting style. She has developed into an artist with a unique voice and her paintings speak to the observer with a palpable sense of urgency and colors that leap of the canvas with their vibrancy. Gaidry turns everyday objects into compelling viewing material by distorting shapes and intensifying colors so that the subject is elevated into something entirely new.
